It is easy to learn how to insert and remove your MoonCatcher.
There are different body positions you can try to insert your MoonCatcher. Here are some:
– Sit on the toilet with your legs wide apart.
– Sit on the toilet with your legs propped on a stand.
– Stand with one leg up on the side of the tub or toilet seat.
– Lay on the side.
– Fully squat with your bum on the floor.
How to apply your menstrual disc:
1. Wash your hands with soap.
2. Wash your MoonCatcher in water. If you want, you can use a neutral soap.
3. Pinch the middle of the rim of your MoonCatcher so that it forms a figure 8
4. Insert the pinched disc into your vagina.
Release and push the MoonCatcher further back and down aiming towards your tailbone using a finger or your thumb.
5. Tuck the front of the MoonCatcher disc behind your pubic bone by pushing it upwards using a finger or thumb.
6. Make sure that the disc is opened and covering your cervix.
7. Wear for up to 12 h.
Preparations
Wash your hands with soap.
Sit on the toilet when removing your disc or remove it in the shower.
Relax!
1. Insert one or two fingers and pull the disc out. You may need to hook the disc from above or pinch it in order to remove.
2. Empty your MoonCatcher in the toilet or in the shower (if you empty while showering)
3. Wash the menstrual disc in water. It is now ready to be re-applied
4. Sterilise your MoonCatcher between each cycle by boiling it in water for 3-5 minutes. You can also use a steamer or sterilising tablets to sterilise your menstrual disc
Removal advice: Some menstruators find it helpful to bear down to reach the disc.
Scooping the pelvis makes the distance between the opening of the vagina and the disc shorter which will also make removal easier
It may be helpful to keep the menstrual disc as horizontal as possible as you pull it out
